History
Before....
Everything started when a group of passionate people (Livingston 1st UMC-LFUMC) lead by their pastor (Rev. Tom Halliburton) went to Mexico in a mission trip back in July 2000.
Miguel and Paula were back from serving with Youth With A Mission in Nashville, TN. They were waiting for the will of God in their lives and while waiting they were invited to become interpreters for this mission group. Miguel and Paula accepted the invitation and met Pastor Tom. A very strong friendship started and together they ministered through the villages of the State of Mexico.
Even before.....
Miguel and Paula met Jeff Ebel while serving with Youth With A Mission, Nashville, TN. Jeff works in Nashville and is a person who loves God and loves the mission field. He blessed Miguel and Paula with the airplane ticket to go back to their country. He was just being obedient to give and his generosity made possible the encounter with LFUMC.
The Invitation....
In April 2001 Miguel and Paula came to visit Pastor Tom and LFUMC. While this visit Tom asked Miguel if he was willing to come ans start a ministry for the Hispanic Community. Miguel declined the invitation but after a time of prayer he took the challege given to him.
Summer 2001...
A second group of people from Livingston Church and their new pastor Craig Green went to Miguel's home church in the city of Leon, Guanajuato. That same summer Miguel and Paula moved to Cookeville, TN.
Manos Hispanas was born.....
During Miguel's Walk of Emmaus in September 2001 the idea of Manos Hispanas started. Manos Hispanas means Hispanic Hands. Manos Hispanas is Miguel and Paula, and through their friendship, giving, caring and healing they started to developed all the programs and activities to help the Hispanic Community and develop ties with the American Community.
